We measure nature,
Now we can measure it, you can fund it
The Problem
Nature restoration is underfunded because the true value of ecosystems is invisible in traditional balance sheets.
It is very time consuming and laborious to collect the data on the extent and condition of the habitats at the level required to satisfy detailed financial models.
Project developers struggle to quantify the benefits with the credibility investors demand, while financiers need robust, standardised metrics to deploy capital at scale.
The current generation of natural capital tools are disconnected from the advances in habitat mapping and so data management and analysis is protracted and expensive and their data is generic and do not provide the finance grade data required.
Current Natural Capital Accounts approaches are static and provide an annual report and therefore are not suitable as a decision support tool to guide restoration activity, support investment nor to shape policy.
